Eliminate sediment by following these 10 easy steps:<\/p>\n

Step 1:<\/strong> Turn off the circuit breaker that manages the electric heater \u2013OR- if a gas heater, turn off the gas supply.<\/p>\n

**Before proceeding to Step 2, allow the unit to cool for an hour or two**<\/p>\n

Step 2:<\/strong> Attach a garden hose to the tank\u2019s drain valve; locate a proper area in which to drain<\/p>\n

Step 3: <\/strong>Shut off the inlet valve to the cold water located at the top of the tank<\/p>\n

Step 4:<\/strong> Open the drain and allow water to flow until the whole tank is empty; shut off the valve<\/p>\n

Step 5: <\/strong>Partly refill the tank with cold water<\/p>\n

Step 6:<\/strong> Shut off the cold water valve<\/p>\n

Step 7:<\/strong> Open the drain and allow the tank to empty; shut off the drain valve<\/p>\n

Step 8:<\/strong> Remove air as the tank fills by allowing hot water to flow from the nearest faucet<\/p>\n

Step 9:<\/strong> Open the cold water inlet; fill the tank until the hot water faucet runs water.<\/p>\n

Step 10:<\/strong> Turn the power at the circuit breaker back on \u2013OR- re-ignite the pilot light (see blog about your pilot light here)<\/a><\/p>\n
