Richmond, Virginia, is one of the oldest and most historically major cities in the U.S., which means most of Richmond’s homes were built before 1940.

If you live in one of these historic beauties, your HVAC system has likely been replaced at least once — probably more like two or three times. If you want to put off another replacement for a while longer, investing in maintenance is your best bet.

Your AC system can last up to 15 years with regular maintenance. AC maintenance is a good investment because it keeps your system working more efficiently, which lowers monthly energy bills. Maintenance also improves your indoor air quality — something everyone cares about.

Since the 1980s, our family has had roots in Richmond and HVAC solutions. We’re invested in this area and you.

Contact F.H. Furr Plumbing, Heating, Air Conditioning & Electrical to schedule AC maintenance.

Benefits of Regular AC Maintenance

Any well-maintained cooling unit will last longer. Without maintenance, you’ll need a new AC system within eight to 10 years. Your HVAC system has many moving parts that need annual inspection and lubrication in order to keep everything working efficiently.

Some AC repairs cost as much as $2,300. Maintenance saves money by preventing the need for these repairs. AC maintenance also increases energy efficiency, meaning your energy bills will be lower for the same level of cooling. Without maintenance, you’ll likely have to replace your system sooner rather than later.

Perhaps most importantly, if you ignore maintenance, you’ll have more airborne pollutants and allergens that cause illness. Your air quality will suffer without a clean AC and ductwork. This is important to most households, especially those with children, older folks, or chronically ill family members.
